Special guest on the chirpers podcast

In this episode of The Chirpers Podcast, I revisited my time at Concordia University through two very different lenses: first, as a four-year starting softball player competing at the national level, and later, as a graduate assistant volleyball coach working with women in a completely different environment. I shared how each role challenged me in unique ways, on the field as a teammate and competitor, and off the court as a mentor, leader, and communicator. We explored the stark differences between the two programs and how the culture within a team—or any organization—can define not just performance, but how people show up, support one another, and grow together.

Interrupt Delivers is a branding and marketing company located in Sylvania, OH.

Interrupt Delivers is known for its unique brand distillery,

“It’s our unique process. We take in numerous inputs and filter out all the stuff that dilutes and confuses brands to distill the essence of what makes each one 110% awesome.”

I had the opportunity to showcase some of my artwork from August of 2023 -March of 2024.

I was able to meet with Interrupt’s creative director, Anita Holman, and show her some of my art pieces. I was so grateful to be able to work with her on my showcase experience and hear all about what she does for Interrupt Delivers.

Overall, it was a great experience working with Interrupt Delivers and I am so thankful to have the opportunity of displaying my art in their corporate office for more eyes to see!

Excerpt taken from Interrupt’s Instagram, 2023:

“Showing people art where they wouldn’t think to find it is one of the things that motivates Lauren Martin to create. Her tree prints, for example, took hours of labor smoothing and burning slabs from her backyard in Allendale, Michigan to make her own “nature stamps,” showing off each tree’s intricate and unique interior ring pattern.

Lauren is an art director in the making. A recent graduate of Concordia University with a degree in digital media design and public relations, she is pursuing her master’s degree in strategic marketing. “I want to show others that art is really in everything around us,” Lauren says.

She's the featured artist on our agency gallery wall this season, and we’re excited to share her creations in person and on the ‘gram!”

back in 2023, I had my Senior art exhibition “gaea”

Concordia University Ann Arbor allowed certain students to host their own art exhibition in their beautiful Kreft Art building. The exhibition's subject is completely up to the students, which I loved. The summer leading into my senior year was based around brainstorming different ideas, whenever I wasn’t working in the digital marketing and advertising department at Concordia.

The poster I included, describes everything about my art exhibition and what I decided to showcase. The entire exhibition took over my senior year, which was a challenge since I played softball year-round as well as being a full time student.

I found myself going from classes, to the ball diamond, then straight to the art building for the majority of my senior year. I was determined and dedicated to making this exhibition everything I envisioned it to be. I wanted not only friends and family to come, but students I’ve never met to feel intrigued and want to come check it out…It was a success!

Along with that, I wanted various mediums in my exhibition instead of sticking to just one. My show was comprised of photography, ink prints, sculptures, water color pieces, and my unique tree prints. Check out some photos from my exhibition below and click the link to read the feature about my exhibition in Concordia’s Newsletter!
